Need to up our game boy's, losing to a shower of shit like that is terrible. Got to start communicating better all through the team, leave the motivating stuff to the skipper and the gaffer and start talking to each other. IT'S GOOD TO TALK!!!!

Match Report 28.11.09: Benfleet 4 Faces 1

Faces travelled to Benfleet hoping to build on last week’s impressive victory. Liam Dooley and Shaun Crocker returned to the side at the expense of Gary Bird & Luke Roust. Reserve team skipper Craig Critchell also made his first appearance for the first team starting on the bench. Pre game activities included a ‘pant off’ which all the boys made a great effort in taking part. Notable mentions go to skipper Darren Chetcuti’s zebra print briefs and Director of Football Paul Baker’s leopard pri… Continue

Match Report 21.11.09: Faces Reserves 0 Rayleigh Town Reserves 3

Faces entertained Rayleigh Town in the first match since the managerial shake up which resulted in Gareth Collins taking over (many people believe promoted!) as reserve team manager.

Before the match, the team spirit and banter was as good as it has been with Jeff Wilks supplying the changing room beats. The mood then changed when Garth announced Craig Critchell as new captain of the reserves!! That being said the spirit was still high when the game kicked off .

The game started with both team… Continue

Match Report 21.11.09: Canning Town 3 Faces 4

Faces made the short journey to Canning Town hoping to carry on from last weeks improved performance. Damien Yoxall and Luke Roust came in for Shaun Crocker and Jamie Orr. The game began in blustery conditions with Faces playing against the wind.

The home side, were playing a lot of longs balls and Faces were struggling to get a foothold in the game. The lively forwards were causing problems in behind the back 3. On the 20 minute mark the forward chased a long ball which was not dealt with and… Continue

Match Report 14.11.09: Faces 0 White Ensign 1

Faces took on White Ensign in their first fixture since the management shake up. 7 players from the reserves stepped up to replace 7 outgoing first team players. I (Scott Bird) also took over for my first game in charge of the first team.

The game itself was in doubt as atrocious conditions continued right up to the first whistle. The atmosphere before the game was really good and the boys were pumped and ready to go. Faces made a bright start and were forcing the pace early on. With the wind a… Continue

Match Report 07.11.09: Rayleigh Town 5 Faces 0

Faces made the trip to Rayleigh with almost an unchanged side from the week before. The exception being James Danderson who donned the gloves in between the sticks after the late withdrawal of Luke Roust through injury/hangover. Manager Gareth Collins decided to go with the same formation of 4-5-1 in an effort to pack the midfield and stifle the opposition.

The opening exchanges were fairly even with neither side taking a grip on the game, both guilty of giving possession away cheaply. The firs… Continue
